I Will Hear You
“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” - 2 Chronicles 7:14
God is always listening when we pray. He wants more than us just doing a custom ritual to check prayer off our spiritual list.
He says, if we will humble ourselves, pray and seek Him, and turn from our wicked ways, then He will answer. That is where all the magic happens. Because when we do our part, God is honored to do His part. And what is His part? God will do three things: hear you, forgive you, and restore you. Today we will discuss the first thing: that God will hear you.
I heard a story one time of a man who had a habit of complaining about the food his wife cooked. However, before he ate, he would always say a prayer. After hearing the man complain then pray, his daughter asked him, “Does God hear us when we pray?” The man said yes. The daughter then asked her father, “Does God hear us when we are not praying?” Once again, the man said yes.
The man assumed the conversation was over and was glad that his daughter was asking about God. However, his demeanor quickly changed when she asked, then which word does God believe, “your complaints over the food before prayer or your thanks for the food during prayer?”
That is right, God is always listening. It does not matter how big or how little our requests are. In a world with roughly 8,000,000,000 people, God wants a personal relationship with you. He wants to hear from you, and He is always listening to you. So what you speak matters.
