Ready For a Shift
“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” - Isaiah 43:19
Our world has changed so much in the last six to seven years. There was a time when if you wanted groceries, you would sit down and prepare your list, and then get in your car, go to the store, and walk up and down the aisles to see and feel what you wanted before you made a decision on what to purchase.
There was a time when if you were hungry and wanted a break from cooking, you’d make a reservation at a restaurant, get dressed, go there, dine, and get home two hours later. There was a time when if you needed to deposit a check, you went to the bank, stood in line, and waited to see a teller.
But today all that has changed. You don’t even have to leave your home to get groceries, get food from a nice restaurant, or deposit checks at your bank. All you need is your mobile device and an internet connection and “voila.” What you need can be ordered and delivered to your door in a matter of minutes.
Names like DoorDash, GrubHub, Instacart, UberEats, Netflix, TeleHealth, and Blue Apron, just to name a few, didn’t exist just a few years ago. But now our lives and our economy depend on them. They have forever changed the way we consume food, listen to music, receive information, see the doctor, manage our finances, watch movies, and receive therapy.
And it is all happening because as a society we must be willing to do things differently. And if that kind of change is happening in every sector of society around us, we must consider the impact and change that will have on the church. What we need is to get ready for a shift.
Listen, my friend, God is getting ready to shift your life. He is getting ready to shift the church, your walk, your faith, your relationship with Him and others. God is going to shift you. The same way the world has shifted, God wants to do that in your life. In many ways, the world is unrecognizable from what it used to be. And God is going to do the same thing in your life. Are you ready for a shift?
