Is It Worth It?
“Then Peter began to speak up. ‘We’ve given up everything to follow you,’ he said. ‘Yes,’ Jesus replied, ‘and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.’” - Mark 10:28:30
To live the life you want to the best version your life, you must follow God. His way is the best way. If you are a believer who has studied the Bible, you know this to be true. If you follow God, He will lead you to places, people, and opportunities greater than anything you could have ever done for yourself.
But there is a price. And that price is sacrifice. If you want to one day live the best version of your life, you must give up things in the “now” that you want momentarily. You must give up what you want in the moment for what’s best in the long run. So, the question then becomes, is it worth it?
This was the question Peter asked Jesus in Mark chapter 10. Peter was basically saying, Jesus, we have given up everything to follow you…is it even worth it? Maybe you have found yourself asking this question before. You have sacrificed so much and given up things to be obedient to God. And you haven’t seen the reward for it. So you ask, “Is it even worth it?”
Jesus replied to Peter and said, “I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.”
A HUNDRED TIMES as many…my friend, when you follow Jesus, when you are obedient to Him, you will NEVER regret it. Jesus will reward you, and the reward will far outweigh the sacrifices you made. The reward is not always tangible but may be spiritual. Most find it difficult because they can only see the short-term pleasure or comfort. But if you just faith in the process, truly your life can be all that it was made to be. And that, my friend, is more than worth it!
