He Determines Your Future
“But as for me, I will always proclaim what God has done; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. For God says, ‘I will break the strength of the wicked, but I will increase the power of the godly.’” - Psalm 75:9-10
Are you lacking the closure you wish you had based on what has happened in your past? Perhaps someone did you wrong, and you just cannot seem to let it go. You need to see that they are punished for what they did. You might need vindication, or to be asked for forgiveness. Or maybe you don’t even know what you need…you just know you can’t move on like this.
If you can relate to this, go back and read the last two devotions. My friend, God is calling you into the next chapter of your life. He is not saying, “after you get closure…” He is calling you into that season, NOW, despite not having closure.
So how do you do it? First, you must refocus your attention. Second, you must let God be your defense. Today, we will discuss how if you want to write a new chapter in your life when you can’t get closure, you must know that your future is only determined by God.
Psalm 75:10 tells us what God will do when we focus our attention on Him and let Him be our defense, “For God says, ‘I will break the strength of the wicked, but I will increase the power of the godly.’”
It is a reminder that the weight of the people’s destiny is dependent on God and God alone. The verdict about your future is not determined by the pain people in your past caused you. It would have been easy for Israel to give up under the weight of their captivity, to conclude that their future was determined by their present circumstances.
But that wasn’t the end of the story. You have another chapter to write! God is ready to lead you into that chapter. But if you are going to move into a new season in your life, it starts with refocusing your attention on God, letting Him be your defense, and remembering He determines your future!
