Let God Be Your Defense
“God says, ‘At the time I have planned, I will bring justice against the wicked.’” - Psalm 75:2
If you want to move from the last season of your life on to the next one, the season God is calling you into, then there are several things you need to do. These are things you can do even when you might not have the closure from your past that you think you need.
As we looked at yesterday, the first thing you must do is refocus your attention. It’s important to learn how to shift your focus from the uncontrollable things of your past to the One who holds your future.
After that, you must let God be your defense. As we continue to look at Psalm 75, we can’t help but notice the shift in language of the text. In verse 1, like in other Psalms, there is this universal appeal for praise. Yet, in verse 2, there is a shift to an announcement of divine judgment.
God announces that in due time He will judge the arrogance of the wicked. God did not want Israel to fight fire with fire or try to seek revenge against those who’ve done them wrong. Instead, they must be poised and disciplined enough to let God handle their enemies.
Too many of us during seasons of uncertainty try and take matters into our own hands. We want to one-up those who have tried to hurt us, we want to get back at those who did us wrong. However, sometimes the only response you should have for your enemies is silence.
Silence does not mean you are weak. Rather, it means you are letting the Lord be your defense and your vindication. For you to move into the next season of your life, you must refocus your attention, and you also must let go of the need to “get even.” That is not in your hands. Let God be your defense!

I prayed today without reading today's devotional. This was confirmation of what I said in my prayer. God is amazing!
This message and scripture reference is right on time. I am one of the caregivers for our 83 years old parents. However, the other siblings/caregivers are not doing their part or any support at all. I however, I have put down the fussing and just being quiet and letting God handle the situation. But of course, continuing to do my part and at times more. Thanks, Pastor, for your messages that provide strength and direction, let go and Let God!!!
