He Is The Provider
“Then the angel of the Lord called you again to Abraham from heaven. ‘This is what the Lord says: Because you have obeyed me and have not withheld even your son, your only son, I swear by my own name that I will certainly bless you. I will multiply your descendants beyond number, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore.” - Genesis 22:15-17
We have looked the last couple of days at the story of Abraham found in Genesis 22. Here, we see God put Abraham to the ultimate test. God is asking Abraham to sacrifice the son that he prayed for, waited for, and worked for.
God was serious and Abraham was obedient. But why was he obedient? Why would he sacrifice the son that he prayed, waited, and worked for? Because he knew that God would provide. God not only came through for Abraham, but He will come through for you too!
You can be assured of that because God has a track record, and you can trust that track record. For 45 years, Abraham had witnessed God provide, and he knew that in this instance, God would provide again. He had seen God deliver before and knew that God would deliver again.
Just before Abraham made the sacrifice, God provided a ram (to be sacrificed) in the bush. That is what God does. He’s a provider. He provides food when you are hungry. He provides clothes when you are naked. He provides shelter in the time of a storm. He is THE Provider.
But you must be willing to lay everything on the altar. As Christians, we know how God uses sacrifice to confirm love because He Himself made the ultimate sacrifice to confirm His love for us. When you trust God, you have nothing to fear. Because He is the ultimate Provider!
