It Was Worth It
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” - Romans 8:28
There is a story I read not too long ago about a woman named Sunshine Foss. She is the owner and operator of a black-owned business in Brooklyn who found herself struggling to make ends meet prior to the pandemic.
When the pandemic hit, she and her husband found themselves standing in the streets outside their shop, literally begging people to come inside. But as the world shut down, things strangely began to change. Sunshine went from begging people to come inside the shop to struggling to keep up with increased demand.
She declared in a New York Times article that things have gotten better in the last few years, and it all happened amid unexpected and unusual circumstances. That is what makes these last 2+ years so interesting. We have gone through something we never saw coming and could not have imagined, and yet we are still here, able to come out stronger on the other side.
God has a way of moving during extraordinary times and under unusual conditions. God is so great, so strong, and so mighty that He is not bound by limitations of time, space, or circumstance. He can do the unthinkable, unimaginable, unexplainable, and the impossible.
And God uses moments of distress to stretch us and make our lives better on the outside. It is why Paul said in today’s key verse that “we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.”
This is who God is, and this is what God does. He takes what was designed to destroy us and uses it to develop us. He takes what should have stopped us and uses it to strengthen us. So don’t give up because of life’s challenges. God can produce something better on the other side. And your testimony will be, “It was worth it!” Every tear, every struggle, every trial, every trouble…it will all be worth it.
