Remember To Worship
“With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the Lord: ‘He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.’” - Ezra 3:11
If you want to fight back when something triggers the emotions of your past, first, you must keep working. It might be difficult but getting distracted and being unproductive is exactly the devil’s plan. You must move forward. In Ezra 3, the Israelites were triggered. But while they were weeping, they were working.
However, it did not stop there. While they were working, they also remembered to WORSHIP. When you become triggered, you must keep worshipping. A painful past, devastating difficulties, and lingering losses never exempt us from our duty, our responsibility, or our obligation to worship God.
Israel joyfully understood this. They paused amidst their building process and honored God for the progress they had just made. The temple was not complete. Some were wailing from triggering memories in their past, but the people didn’t let their grieving keep them from worshipping God.
And that is the word for you today. You might be trying to figure out how to navigate the ups and the downs in your life. No matter what you’ve endured, regardless of what you’ve gone through, you must not allow trauma to affect your worship. You must not let pain kill your praise. You must fulfill your created duty to worship the Lord and serve Him first and foremost.
He is the God of our salvation! He is the One who woke us up this morning! He is the One who put food on our table! He is the One who gives us strength to get up and go to work! We can’t give up on God when things get tough. Our God deserves better than that! Remember to worship Him today!
