A Renewed Worship
“He said, ‘If I have found favor in your eyes, my Lord, do not pass your servant by. Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way— now that you have come to your servant.” - Genesis 18:3-5
When God shows up in your life, things are going to change. Your spirit will be lifted, you will receive a new vision, and you will also find a renewed desire to worship. That is where we are going to spend our time today. That is the indication you see from Abraham in Genesis 18 that reveals things have turned around.
Abraham looks up, and after seeing something, he bows down. These three travelers who arrive at Abraham’s doorstep aren’t just any guests. Abraham is convinced this is a visitation from God. He leaps to his feet, greets the guests at his door, and the text says he bows down. The common custom when guests showed up was to wait for them to approach the door, but here Abraham rushes and greets the guests and bows because he understands that he is not in the presence of someone ordinary. He is now in the presence of royalty.
Abraham bows in front of them and says, “If I have found favor in your eyes, my Lord, do not pass your servant by.” Once his spirit had been lifted and his vision restored, his worship was now renewed. After years of spiritual stagnation, after years of personal frustration, and aggravation, Abraham’s ability to worship was coming back.
You might say he had been in his own kind of pandemic for 24 years, but all of a sudden he could worship again. He could give reverence to God. So, what about you? Can you give reverence to God? Do you have a renewed sense of worship? If not, maybe you haven’t given God permission to walk in the door.
Remember when He walks in, things change. When God takes control, you will find a lifted spirit, a new vision, and a renewed sense of worship. God will give you a reason to worship Him, you just have to open the door and give Him the chance to prove it!
