But How?
“The sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the Lord saying, ‘Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever.’ For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before, says he Lord.” - Jeremiah 33:11
Help is on the way. Whatever you are going through, whatever storm you are in, the day is coming that God will rescue you. He can and He will. If you did not get the chance to read yesterday’s devotion, go back and read it, because we talk about this in depth. So now that we know that God will do what He has promised, how is He going to do it?
Jeremiah proceeds from declaring the assurance of God’s help to letting us know about the application of God’s help. In other words, he wants them then and us now to understand how God was going to administer the help He promises. It comes on the heels of declaring in verse 10-11 that things are going to get better in the personal lives of God’s people.
He says, “The sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the Lord saying, ‘Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever.’ For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before, says the Lord.”
He is talking about the restoration of laugher in the streets, the voice of mirth and gladness, and wedding bells in the air, the voice of the bridegroom and the bride. God is going to restore their personal lives. But it is not going to end there. He shifts to talking about a different type of help that is coming.
He says, “In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout form David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land.” Here Jeremiah paints a portrait of restoration of the political affairs of the national and the advent of a coming redeemer who will represent and speak on the behalf of his people.
But how? God is both going to better your personal life, as well as speak and work on your behalf. This is how God is going to help you in the coming days!
