A Cry For Help
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” - 1 Corinthians 10:13
If you have followed our devotions the last few days, you are likely very encouraged! The thing that has kept you from your dreams, your goals, and maybe even God’s destiny, all these years, can be defeated. The weakness, the Achilles heel that has plagued you for so long can be overcome.
And today we talk about the final step in overcoming. We have already spent time talking about how you must first recognize your weakness. You then must understand the root of that weakness, where does it come from and what can I do about it? Then you must put in the work. God will allow you to be tested and provide opportunities for growth as you start your journey of turning what has long been a terrible weakness, into a serious strength.
But there is one more step. While you must do the work, you must also recognize you need something, or better yet, someone along the way. See, apart from God, you will fail. That might be blunt, it might be harsh, but it is the truth. You can “try harder” and “try to do better” and maybe for a short time you succeed. But on your own, you will eventually fail.
You need a cry for help. But that is okay! God wants to help you. He never intended for you to go at life’s toughest challenges alone. 1 Corinthians tells us, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
God will give you the way out. He will give you the answer to the test. He is faithful, and He will not allow you to be overtaken. The truth is you CAN overcome your Achilles heel. But you must understand that in order to do so, you need help. Never hesitate to cry for help. He is ready. He is willing. And He will see you through!
