Strengthening Your Achilles Heel
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
We have spent the last several days talking about your Achilles heel. Whatever it might be, sometimes God allows it to remain to reveal His strength. And while this can certainly be true, there are also times that He wants you to turn to Him as you seek to turn what is now a weakness into a strength. How do we strengthen our Achilles heel?
First, we must become aware of our weakness. How can we fix it if we are not aware it even exists? But it is not enough just to be aware of what we are doing, we must also know why we are doing it. In Genesis 12 Abraham confesses that his lies were rooted in fear. He tells Abimelech that he lied because he thought they would kill him if they knew Sarah was his wife. Fear was the driving force.
After we are aware of our weakness, and we know why we struggle with that weakness, it is time to work on that weakness. This might seem clear, but sometimes we tend to think because we have failed on our own, we can just give it to God, and go back to living how we were.
While it is true we need God, we also have to take responsibility and be intentional about working on our weakness. But we must do so with His help. And that is the final step, knowing we need assistance. Are you ready to go on a path of strengthening your Achilles heel? Stay tuned!
