Don’t Waste Your Meantime
“Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” - Ephesians 5:16-17
We have spent the last several days talking about what to do “in the meantime.” This is the time in between where you are right now and where God is taking you. This is the place your dreams, visions, and goals lie that only God can lead you into. And while you must wait on God, and not get ahead of Him, you do have a responsibility in the meantime.
What is that responsibility? First, you must stop worrying. If you make the wise decision to trust God with the things you cannot control, you must do exactly that: give Him control. Not some of the control, but all of it. And in doing so, you forfeit the ability to worry. Instead of worrying, you must worship. Praise and worship God for who He is and what He is going to do. Anyone can say thank you after they have been given a great gift. But your thanks and praise beforehand displays the confidence you have in your Savior.
As you let go of worry and walk into worship, you have one more responsibility: you must work for what you are waiting for. Now don’t get it twisted. There are elements that are out of your control. These are things you are trusting God for. But as you wait, prepare yourself for the gift God is giving you.
These are all things God wants you to be doing as you are waiting. Do not waste your meantime. There is a purpose to it. If you are waiting on God, there is a reason. God is never early, and He is never late. He wants to use the meantime to grow you in some very specific ways. But if you spend all your time worrying instead of worshipping and being prepared, you could prolong your wait time.
God will not give you what you are waiting for if you are not ready for it. You already are waiting on Him, so don’t waste this time! Prepare for the great gift God is going to deliver to you.
