What To Do In The Meantime?
“Be very careful, then, how you live— not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” - Ephesians 5:15-16
Do you have promises that you are waiting on God to deliver? Do you have hopes and dreams that you know God will fulfill—it is just a matter of time? This can be a very exciting feeling, being able to claim the promises of God and knowing that He will fulfill your greatest hopes and dreams. But now what?
What do you do in the meantime? What do you do while you’re waiting for it to happen? As followers of Christ, God is always impregnating us with some dream, vision, or goal. Our job is to trust God in the process and be determined to enjoy not just the promise but the journey toward the promise. Too many of us trust the promise but are not willing to endure the process. We think we can only be fulfilled and happy when the blessing has become materially evident, but what do you do in the meantime? In the gap between revelation and manifestation, between God saying it and God performing it?
1 Samuel 1 gives us a glimpse of what we can do in our own lives. We learn, first of all, that while you are waiting, you must stop worrying, keep worshipping, and start working. Over the next few days, we will go into greater detail on what Hannah did, and what we can do as we wait for God to deliver us and deliver His promises through our dreams, visions, and goals.
Just know, that while you sit in the meantime, you still have responsibilities. But you must understand which responsibilities are yours, and which are God’s. God does not expect you to perform the entire thing on your own. There are certain things that only He can do. Things that are outside of your control. When it comes to these things, we must not worry and trust God. We must keep worshipping Him, no matter how things seem in the meantime. And lastly, we must work on the things that we can control. These are all things that we can do while waiting in the meantime.
