You Are Not Alone
“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” - Romans 8:18
Oftentimes, when grieving, you may feel as though you are all alone in the world and nobody else is going through the situation that you are facing. However, you are not alone. Two important things to do to overcome grief are to express it with God and share it with others.
God understands our hearts and He is a comforter. He is waiting for us to come to Him and hand over our pain and worry. If you are wondering how to approach God, you can start with this Psalm by David, “I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done. I spread out my hands to you; I thirst for you like a parched land. Answer me quickly, Lord; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life” (Psalm 143:5-8). You will never fail by entrusting your life to God.
Another thing we must do is share this pain with others—a therapist, counselor, friends, family, someone with whom we trust to give us sound advice. Grieving alone perpetuates a cycle of isolation and misery. Sharing how we feel with others helps us to feel a sense of connection and releases many of the pent-up feelings in our mind and heart. It also helps to encourage us and give us clarity and perspective in our situation.
The important things to remember is that you are not alone. Allow God to relieve your pain, and then ask Him to guide you to a person or group of people who you can share your feelings with, so you are effectively cope in your situation. There is light at the end of the tunnel and there is a glory that God is going to reveal in you!
