The University of Adversity
“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” 2 Corinthians 4:17
Do you want something that you have yet to receive? Maybe God has promised you something, and it just feels like it is taking forever for Him to answer your prayer. Quite often we’re not mature enough to handle what God desires to give us. So, God has to enroll us in the university of adversity.
God has to put us in situations and circumstances that mature us, so we do not misuse and then lose the blessing He provides. There is nothing worse than getting a promotion before you are able to handle it. There is nothing worse than meeting the person of your dreams but being too immature to commit to them or appreciate them. And there is nothing worse than being blessed with money but not being responsible enough to know how to manage it.
There is a saying that God is never late, but He is also not going to show up early. He is not going to give you what you want or need before you are ready and able to handle it. 2 Corinthians 4:17 tells us, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
You might have momentary troubles. God might put you through tough times, but it is only to shape you and prepare you to handle all that He is going to bless you with. When you take a training course, it is to prepare you for your future task or opportunity. If you spend five seconds in the training, you are not going to learn as much as if you finish the course. You may feel as though the training course if not beneficial at the time, but you may look back and find that what you learned had some impact in the future.
God is preparing you. He is setting you up to receive the blessings He has for you long term. Allow God to grow you during this time and embrace the moment you are in. It is exactly where He wants you to be!
