Something Deeper
“Jesus stopped and called them. ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ He asked. ‘Lord, we want our sight,’ they answered. Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him. - Matthew 20:32-34
The story found in Matthew 20 shows that your breakthrough will come when you decide that you want something deeper in life. What stands out in this text is what the two blind men ask for when Jesus comes passing by. First, they ask for mercy, and then they ask for their eyesight.
Normally beggars positioned by the roadside would mainly ask for money. But these men asked for something different, they wanted something deeper. It was that decision that caused Jesus to stop, to listen to what the men had asked for, and to grant their request and heal them.
Ask yourself, is it possible that the Lord has not changed your situation because you haven’t approached Him with a request for something deeper? Some of us are stuck because our prayers are superficial. We want money, a bigger house, or to find a boo just to show off to others.
However, when you realize what you need is something deeper, that is when Jesus begins to respond because your life is ultimately meant to glorify God. He will reveal things to you that lead you on a path towards that deeper meaning, that deeper desire.
So, what is it you really want? If you desire money or a relationship, why do you want those things? What is the goal from having those things? When you find what it is that you really want—what is really worth living for—Jesus will begin to assist your journey. If you do not know what that is, ask and He will reveal it to you. What God wants for you is the best. You just have to find that best by going deeper in Him.
