20/20 Vision
“Jesus stopped and called them. ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ He asked. ‘Lord, we want our sight,’ they answered. Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him. - Matthew 20:32-34
Over the last few days, we have talked about vision—specifically, how a clear vision for your future can change the way you live in the present. It should shape the way you live your everyday life. Proper vision is what inspires us to embrace life and spurs us into action; it encourages us to do something great knowing that no matter what we go through, we will win in the end, if we are following God.
Finding 20/20 vision comes by understanding that your past, your present, and your future are preparing you for a life lived more abundantly. In the verses written above, Jesus and his disciples are on their way to Jerusalem for Passover. The Bible says that as they pass through the city of Jericho, they come across two blind men sitting beside the road. These men’s lives changed after an encounter with Jesus, as He quite literally turned their life around.
As the periscope starts, they are in darkness; they are blind and cannot see. But before the next chapter even begins, they are in the light, they see, and they are now saved and are following Jesus. They went from having no idea where they were and what was going on around them, to being able to move forward with a sense of confidence and assurance.
Are you sitting by the roadside, blinded? Are you sitting stagnant, not moving, while just letting life pass you by? What Jesus gave those men that day, He will give you today. All you must do is ask Him. Jesus wants to give you 20/20 vision for His will. He wants you to clearly see the plan He has for your life so you can pursue it with confidence and assurance. If you are blinded, unsure of what to do, ask God for clearer sight. You just might see something you’ve never seen before!
