What You Could Have Been
“You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? Fore we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: ‘As surely as I live, every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’ So then, each of us will give an account for ourselves to God” - Romans 14:10-12
There is a trend going around on the social networking service TikTok in which the person creating the video narrates a script of a man motivated to wake up in the wee hours of the morning. What drives him to wake up that early is what he says next. He says that he believes one day he will stand before God, and that God will show him what he could have been, how his life could have turned out, and what his potential was. It scares the man to death, and so he wakes up early every day, with the intention of becoming godly now and not wondering what could have been.
Les Brown said, “If you have no vision of yourself in the future, then you have nothing to live for.” And yet so many people around us are unproductive, stagnant, and stalled in life because they have lost their vision. Their goals have been blurred. Their plans have become distorted, aborted, or put on pause. It seems as if they don’t know what to do. And they are drifting further away from God.
Do you identify with the description above? Perhaps you grew up with childhood dreams. You mapped out the future you wanted to have, and how you were going to change the world around you. But the greatest component missing was God’s will for your life.
If you stood before God right now, could you say you are walking in His will. Pursue God, and everyday take one step closer to being who He created you to be. You won’t regret it.
