Agents of Healing and Hope
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” - Matthew 5:16
In a world where so many people are struggling, a world in which so many people are trying to make their way, we need to be agents of hope for people, rather than agents of judgment. Rather than spending our time criticizing folks, we need to be there as a light to lift folks up.
Rather than judging the teen or the single mother for having a baby, rather than judging those who may have made a mistake and ended up in jail, rather than thinking we are better than someone because we sin differently than they do, we should pray for and help others becoming stronger and more effective in their walk with Christ.
And why should give grace and mercy to others? Because God gives grace and mercy to us. This is not to say there isn’t a time for constructive correction, but more often than not, love is greater than ridicule. You never know how a kind word, or a loving response can go a long way towards lifting someone’s spirit and helping them to get back to where they need to be.
If your family member or friend has been taken captive by the enemy—whether it be in the form of drugs, addiction, debt, or any number of things—do not judge them. Do not write them off. Go get them back. The plan God has for them is greater than any evil they have committed. Be God’s agent of healing and hope in their life.
