When The Grass Withers
“The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”
- Isaiah 40:8
Does your faith need refueling? The same way that a gas tank gets drained with time, so can your faith dwindle with the passing of time if you aren’t careful. When you need to refuel, what you need is to go hear the Word of God. That’s why we gather for worship, whether in person or online, because the Word helps us maintain our sanity in the midst of life’s madness.
Isaiah 40, says “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.” Hearing the word when you’re down increases your faith, restores your joy, and gives you confidence. It reminds you that weeping endures for a night, but joy comes in the morning. It reminds you that “they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.”
Sometimes all you need is a word from God about your situation. This is why you need to stay committed to church, to reading God’s word, and to prayer. Because God will reveal things to you, just as you need to hear them. A consistent life of prayer and Scripture reading will sustain your faith as you wait to see your promise.
If you find yourself needing to refuel in the midst of waiting on God, turn to Him to refuel you. Hearing a word, whether it be at church, from your Bible, or on YouTube, no matter what it is, can refuel you. Praying to God and allowing Him to speak to you can refuel you. The grass withers and the flowers fade. As time passes, it is easy to lose faith, but if you stay in the Word, and keep constant communication with God, He will keep you full on gas and keep you going until you receive all that He has promised.
