Are You Afraid?
“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
Over the last couple of days, we have talked about the plan God has for you—how God wants to continually grow you. He wants to make you like Jesus, and He wants to use you for great work for His kingdom. The plans God has for you are greater than you or anyone you know can imagine. To find this fulfilling life, you must seek God and obey His word.
The problem is, so often we want to seek the opinions of others first. The reason we do this, I believe, is because we are afraid. What if others judge me? What if my family doesn’t understand? What if it doesn’t work? What if God changes the course of my life? What if He takes me somewhere I don’t want to go or gives me a job I don’t want to do?
There are a million questions you can ask yourself. But I promise you friend, obeying His commands and following the plan and purpose He has for your life is worth it. Isaiah 55 reminds us that God plans to prosper us and not harm us. God has hope and a future set out for us.
God will rarely tell you what is ahead. You have to trust Him, hour by hour, day by day, month by month, year by year. But if you do, He will take you on a journey greater than you could ever plan for yourself. He is a loving God, and He wants the very best for you.
It is okay to be afraid. In fact, it is completely natural. But your faith must be greater than your fear. So, step out on faith and let God lead you on a journey only He could design.
