Brokenness Brings Breakthroughs
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. – Isaiah 53:5
I have good news for you today: There is healing for your brokenness. This is a powerful reminder, but for some, this may be a difficult statement to hear or accept. However, that doesn’t mean it isn’t true.
When we choose wholeness, we commit to wholeheartedly pursuing it. Your next step towards wholeness and healing might begin by deciding to see a therapist or a counselor. For others it may be the need to exercise, get more sleep and eat well. For others, the healing for our brokenness comes when we practice positive thinking and meditate more on Scripture. For someone else, healing may be on the other side of forgiving a family member or friend.
Whatever you need, there is healing for your brokenness because of Jesus Christ. His brokenness provides healing for our brokenness. He was broken so that we could be made whole. Isaiah 53:2-5 says, “...He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely, he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
Over and over again in Scripture, God shows us that blessings come from brokenness, and that brokenness leads to breakthrough. Sometimes, it takes a storm to bring us to our knees and back to God. So, the next time something happens, remember that God uses what breaks us to build us. Brokenness is an opportunity to turn towards God; to pray that God would bring you closer to him and give you peace in the storm.
