Upgrade Your Praise
"But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, Hosanna to the Son of David! They were indignant." – Matthew 21:15
When God moves, not everyone celebrates. That’s what happened in the temple the day Jesus healed the blind and the lame. While the power of God was clearly at work, and while people were being made whole right in front of them, some of the religious leaders were not rejoicing; they were complaining. They could not handle the sound of praise.
Meanwhile, the children in the temple got it. Without being told, without needing a worship team or an announcement from the stage, they broke out in pure and passionate praise. They had learned who God was and what He had done, and when they saw Jesus show up with power, their response was automatic. They shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David.” They didn’t worry about how it looked. They weren’t trying to be impressive. They were just responding to the goodness of God.
Praise doesn’t need a script. It doesn’t need a perfect environment. When your heart is tuned in to who God is and what He has done, praise will come out naturally. It might not look polished. It might not be quiet. But it will be real. That kind of praise is not about hype. It is about honesty. It flows from a place of remembering all the ways God has made a way, opened doors, healed wounds, and been faithful even when things were hard.
Somewhere along the way, many of us traded real praise for routine participation. We show up, we sing the songs, and we go through the motions, but deep down, we’ve lost our response. We’ve forgotten what it means to just let loose and thank God from the heart. Maybe it’s time to upgrade your praise. Not to be louder for show, but to be more authentic and more grateful.
God’s been too good to sit silent. So when He moves, when He speaks, when He shows up, don’t hold back. Give Him the kind of praise He deserves. The kind that starts deep in your soul and pours out with joy.
