Being Difference Makers
"Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other." - Mark 9:50
Think about the last time you added salt to your food. Whether it was a pinch in your soup or a sprinkle on your salad, that small addition made a significant difference in the flavor. Salt has a transformative effect – it enhances taste, preserves food, and purifies ingredients.
In the same way, as believers in Christ, we are called to be difference-makers in the world. Just as salt changes the taste of food, we are meant to shift the atmosphere, mold consensus, and transform society with the love and truth of Jesus.
Consider the impact of a dash of salt in a bland dish. Without it, the food lacks flavor and savor. Similarly, without our influence, the world can become dull and lifeless. But when we, as salt, engage with our environment, we bring flavor, vibrancy, and purpose.
Jesus didn't call us to blend in or maintain the status quo. He calls us to be difference makers – to contribute something meaningful that changes lives for the better. Like a thermostat sets the temperature, we should set the standard for how people are treated, how things are experienced, and how hearts are impacted.
Imagine a world where every encounter with a believer leaves a positive and lasting impression. Our words, actions, and attitudes should inspire hope, affirm worth, and challenge complacency. We should be agents of transformation, guided by the Holy Spirit within us.
God saved us for a purpose – not to be passive, but to actively touch, change, and transform the lives of those around us. Embrace your role as a difference maker, empowered by the Spirit to make a faithful impact wherever you go. Just as salt changes the taste of food, let your lives change the world for the better.

This devotion is like a confirmation of the affirmation I declared this year. I declared not to be passive in conversations or situations that might contain different opinions leading to unrest. I have been passive as well as passive aggressive to avoid conflict too long. This version of me will strengthen my decision to become a difference maker in action as Jesus would.
