Holy Ground Starts Where You Are
"Then he said, Do not come near. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground." - Exodus 3:5
Moses wasn’t in a temple or at an altar. He wasn’t in the middle of worship or prayer. He was standing in the dirt, surrounded by sheep, probably tired and dusty from another long day. That’s where God told him he was standing on holy ground.
That moment changes how we think about where God moves. We tend to look for Him in church buildings, at retreats, in worship sets, or moments we label as “spiritual.” But God didn’t wait for Moses to get cleaned up or to go somewhere sacred. He met him right where he was and called that place holy.
That matters. Because it means the same is true for you.
God can take an ordinary place and make it sacred. He can turn a regular Tuesday into a life-altering moment. He can speak to you at your desk, in your car, during a walk, or in the middle of a quiet night when you feel like nothing important is happening.
What made the ground holy wasn’t the mountain. It was God’s presence. And His presence is not limited to a location.
Maybe today you need to stop waiting for the perfect setting to hear from God. Maybe the place you are in, no matter how routine or overlooked, is exactly where He wants to speak to you.
But you have to recognize it.
God told Moses to take off his sandals. That wasn’t just about respect. It was about awareness. It was a way of saying, “This moment is different. Don’t rush past it.”
You might be standing on holy ground and not even realize it. God is closer than you think.
Take a breath. Slow down. Pay attention. The place you are standing could be the start of something sacred.
