Aligning Our Will with God's in Prayer
"Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." - Matthew 6:10
When we pray, we enter into a sacred conversation with God. It's a dialogue where we pour out our hearts, express our desires, and seek His guidance. In this exchange, a beautiful process unfolds: God works to align our will with His.
Matthew 6:10, part of the Lord's Prayer, reminds us of the importance of aligning our will with God's divine plan. As we utter the words, "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven," we acknowledge our desire to see God's purpose fulfilled in our lives.
The process of aligning our will with God's is a journey of transformation. It begins with surrender. In prayer, we surrender our own plans, ambitions, and desires. We acknowledge that God's wisdom far surpasses our understanding. Surrender is not a sign of weakness but an act of trust in God's sovereignty.
As we pray, we seek God's guidance. We lay before Him our decisions, seeking His wisdom and direction. We ask for clarity and insight to discern His will in our choices.
Prayer is not just about speaking; it's also about listening. In the moments of silence, we open our hearts to hear God's still, small voice. We wait for His promptings and guidance, allowing Him to speak to our innermost being.
As we continue in prayer, transformation occurs. Our desires start to align with God's desires. We find that our ambitions shift from self-centered pursuits to Kingdom-focused endeavors. Our hearts are molded to reflect His character and love.
The process leads to obedience. We are more inclined to follow God's will because it has become our own. We willingly walk the path He has laid before us, knowing it is the path of abundant life and fulfillment.
Alignment with God's will brings about peace and joy. There's a profound sense of contentment in knowing we are walking in the center of His purpose. We experience the peace that surpasses all understanding and the joy of fulfilling our divine calling.
In prayer, we engage in the process of aligning our will with God's. It's a journey of surrender, seeking, listening, transformation, obedience, and ultimate peace and joy. When we pray for His will to be done, we acknowledge His sovereignty, trust His wisdom, and find our truest fulfillment in following His divine plan.
