Just Stand Up
“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13
If faith is the realm in which God operates, fear is the realm in which Satan operates. Fear keeps you stuck. It paralyzes you from the actualization of your full potential. Fear will have you thinking about comfortability instead of greater opportunity. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world.” Fear is rooted in worry and doubt.
You must fight fear with faith. As a believer, everything you want is on the other side of fear. I remember when I was trying to teach my daughter how to swim. She was very small, and she feared the water. She was so afraid of drowning that even when I held her, she would panic.
One day, we were in the kiddie pool (which had a depth around 4 feet), and I took my daughter in the water. She wailed and screamed and had a fit. I grabbed her and said, “It’s ok, don’t be afraid. We’re in the kiddie pool, just stand up!”
It is the same way in the pool of life. Sometimes we find ourselves in situations and circumstances where all we need to do is just stand up and trust our Father. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us, “For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.”
What is your water? What are you afraid of drowning in? While the water might seem scary, you serve a big God. One that will help you stand. God wants your faith. You will not always know the outcome beforehand, but He gives you the power to stand up anyways. Whatever you are afraid of drowning in, choose to stand up today.
