Praying for Resilience
“I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord! In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God.” - Job 1:21-22
When life is difficult, and the circumstances and situations you face are just too tough to go at alone, it is time to turn to God. We already know communication with God comes through prayer, but what is it exactly that we should be praying? When life is at its toughest and you just don’t know what to do, you need three things: resilience, replenishment, and revelation. We will spend the next three days talking about each of these individually.
First, you need resilience. As a believer, the best thing you have going for you when life gets difficult is that you have a God who has the power to completely change your circumstance, change your perspective, and give you the strength to continue through. Now which of these He decides to do is entirely up to Him. But when you call, He will be there. He hears you when you pray to Him. He wants you to bring Him your every need and struggle. Though He might not suddenly change your circumstances, He will give you the resilience you need to endure and fight through them.
God is a God of infinite power. He can and will give you the power of resilience. So what is resilience exactly? It is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties or in other words, the ability to bounce back. No matter what you might go through, God will give you the strength you need to bounce back. He will help you to push through and keep going.
With God’s power, no circumstance will break you. God works all things for your good. Most people make the mistake of thinking this means all things will be good. He never promises that, but He is working them for your good. But in order to see that good, we must first master the art of resilience. Ask God for the resilience you need, and watch how your perspective changes, and find the strength you need in Him.
