Doing Your Part
"They went back to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her." - 1 Samuel 1:19
Praying is powerful. It’s how we connect with God, pour out our hearts, and seek His guidance. But prayer alone isn’t the end of the story. It’s only the beginning. Sometimes, we get so caught up in waiting for God to move that we forget He’s waiting for us to act on what we’ve prayed for.
Hannah’s story shows us something important. After all her prayers, her tears, and her desperate cries to God, she didn’t just go home and wait for a miracle to drop out of the sky. She acted on what she was believing God for. Verse 19 makes that clear. She and her husband went home, and they did their part. And that’s when God moved.
Faith isn’t just about praying and hoping. It’s about praying and then doing your part. It’s believing that God will move and then stepping out in faith to match what you’re believing for. So often, we pray and then sit back as if there’s nothing left for us to do. But faith requires action.
Are you praying for a financial breakthrough? Then start making wise decisions with the resources you already have. Are you praying for healing in a relationship? Then be willing to forgive, reach out, or have that difficult conversation. Are you praying for opportunities to make a difference? Then start serving where you are, even if it feels small.
God is faithful. But He also calls us to act. When you pray, you’ve got to be willing to step out and do your part. Just like Hannah, when you combine your prayers with action, you make room for God to bring about the breakthrough you’re believing for.
What step of faith do you need to take? What’s your part in what you’re praying for? Because when you pray and act, you’ll see God move in ways you never imagined.
