When God Writes the Ending
Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians. - Daniel 5:28
Over the last few days, we’ve been looking at what God wrote on the wall in the book of Daniel. The final word written on the wall was “Peres,” and it carried a powerful message. What looked permanent was about to change. A kingdom that seemed unshakable was being divided. A ruler who felt untouchable was losing control. God was writing an ending that no one at the banquet could see coming.
This is where hope enters the story. Daniel chapter 5 does not end with fear. It ends with transition. Leadership shifts. Power moves. The chapter begins one way and ends another.
That pattern should bring encouragement to you if you’ve been living with anxiety about the future. Situations that feel stuck are not as fixed as they seem. God does not need force, armies, or human permission to bring change. With a word, He reshapes history. With a pen, He closes chapters.
Faith does not deny reality. It refuses to believe that the present moment gets the final word. God is always writing beyond what we can see. While anxiety tells you that things will always be this way, Scripture tells a different story.
Now let’s be clear. God’s Word is not promising instant relief or easy answers. It is offering assurance. The same God who wrote the fall of Babylon is still writing today. He is still disrupting unjust systems. He is still opening new chapters for His people.
What feels like an ending may actually be a turning point. What feels like loss may be preparation. God is still writing, and His pen has not run dry.
