Protecting Your Peace on Purpose
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.” - Isaiah 26:3-4
Our key verse makes it clear that peace is not accidental. It must be protected. The people Isaiah was speaking to were living in a time of instability, surrounded by threats, uncertainty, and fear. Yet Isaiah does not tell them to panic or chase after external solutions. He tells them to trust in the Lord forever because God alone provides everlasting strength.
One of the hardest truths in trying times is realizing that some of the things we lean on for peace cannot actually keep us. Isaiah exposes the false supports the people had been relying on. Political alliances failed. Economic stability disappeared. Cultural distractions provided momentary relief but no lasting security. None of those things could hold the weight of their fear.
That lesson still applies. Peace cannot come from anything temporary. If your peace rises and falls with news cycles, bank accounts, relationships, or approval, it will always be fragile. Anything that can be taken away will eventually threaten your peace.
Isaiah points us inward. Perfect peace is not found out there. It is formed in here. It comes from anchoring your trust in God rather than spreading it thin across unreliable sources. Protecting your peace means learning when to disconnect from what drains you and reconnect with what strengthens you.
Some things are not sinful, but they are costly. Some relationships, habits, or routines slowly erode peace instead of building it. Isaiah’s message is simple but demanding. If it depletes your peace, it cannot stay in your life unchecked.
God does not ask you to carry everything. He asks you to trust Him. When trust is placed in the right place, peace becomes resilient. It holds even when circumstances shake.
Protecting your peace is not selfish. It is necessary. God knows what your mind needs to survive trying times, and He offers Himself as the anchor.
