What You Are Leaning On Matters
Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength. - Isaiah 26:4
When life becomes uncertain, we all lean on something. The question is not whether you are leaning. The question is what you are leaning on.
Isaiah was speaking to a people who had been leaning on everything except God. Political alliances, military strength, economic security, and cultural distractions had become their sources of safety. When those things failed, their peace collapsed with them.
Isaiah makes it clear that peace cannot come from temporary sources. Anything that can change, disappear, or break will eventually fail you. Money can dry up. Relationships can shift. Positions can be lost. Even good things can become unreliable foundations if they are asked to do what only God can do.
Trusting God forever does not mean ignoring reality. It means choosing where your confidence ultimately rests. Everlasting strength belongs to God alone because He does not change. His presence does not fluctuate. His care does not expire.
This devotion invites an honest inventory. What do you turn to first when stress hits? What do you rely on when fear creeps in? Those answers reveal where trust has been placed.
God does not allow other supports to fail out of cruelty. Sometimes He allows them to shake so we remember who truly sustains us. If peace disappears when something external changes, it may be because peace was built on the wrong foundation.
Everlasting strength is not found in things that promise security but cannot deliver it. It is found in God, who remains steady even when everything else moves.
When trust is placed in Him, peace becomes resilient. It does not depend on circumstances lining up. It depends on God holding you up.
