When Life Feels Like a Jungle
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in
You. - Isaiah 26:3
There are seasons when life feels less like a calm path and more like a jungle. Pressure builds from every direction. The economy feels unstable. Relationships feel fragile. News headlines are heavy. Personal stress piles on top of public uncertainty, and it can feel like everything is closing in at once.
The Bible never pretends that this kind of stress does not exist. Isaiah was speaking to people who were surrounded by political upheaval, military threats, and emotional exhaustion. They were living with fear on the outside and anxiety on the inside. It felt like too much to carry.
What Isaiah offers them is not an escape from reality but a way to survive it. He says that God will keep people in perfect peace when their minds are stayed on Him. That peace is not the absence of trouble. It is stability in the middle of it.
Perfect peace does not mean nothing hurts. It means you are not undone by what hurts. It means calm can exist even when circumstances are chaotic. Isaiah is teaching that when the outside world feels unstable, the work must begin on the inside.
Many of us instinctively look outward for relief. We look for better conditions, better news, or better circumstances. Isaiah points in a different direction. Peace does not come from controlling what is happening around you. It comes from anchoring your mind in who God is.
A mind stayed on God is a mind that keeps returning to Him when anxiety tries to take over. It is a mind that refuses to let fear set the agenda. It is not denial. It is trust.
The jungle may still be loud, but peace is possible. Not because the world calms down, but because God steadies you.
