Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." – Matthew 6:33
Life is full of distractions. Opportunities, responsibilities, entertainment, ambitions, and everyday demands constantly pull for our attention. None of these things are necessarily wrong, but they can easily crowd out the most important thing, our commitment to God’s purpose for our lives.
When Jesus said to seek first the kingdom of God, He was giving us the order of life. The main thing is not your career, your possessions, or even your personal comfort. The main thing is God’s kingdom and His righteousness. Everything else falls into place when that is your first pursuit. But when we reverse the order, when we chase after everything else and give God what is left over, our lives drift off course.
Committing your life to God’s purpose means making Him the center of your decisions, your priorities, and your ambitions. It means asking daily, “Lord, what do You want me to do with what You’ve given me today?” It means filtering every opportunity through the lens of His will instead of simply asking if it is convenient or profitable.
The enemy would love nothing more than to fill your life with so much “good” that you have no room for God’s best. He will tempt you to keep your faith on the side, something you fit in when it is easy, rather than the foundation of everything you do. But God calls you to more than that. He calls you to live for something eternal, something that will outlast you, something that glorifies Him and impacts others for His kingdom.
When you keep the main thing the main thing, you find peace and clarity. You know where you are going and why. And you can live with the confidence that you are in step with the One who designed you for a purpose.
Today, make the decision to align every part of your life with God’s purpose. Say yes to Him above all else. Let His will shape your plans, His priorities shape your days, and His mission shape your legacy. Everything else will fall into place when your life is anchored in Him.

This right here, "Lord, what do You want me to do with what You’ve given me today?” is exactly the words I need. I am hurting so much and resentment is settling and I don't like it but can't seem to shake it. As reading this the tightness eased up in my chest and I just asked, "Lord, what do You want me to do with what You’ve given me today?”
