Do You Accept Christ’s Forgiveness?
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” - Romans 5:8
Over the past few days, we have talked about forgiveness and what it looks like for you to forgive someone who has wronged you. We have talked about the freedom it gives when you are finally able to forgive, and we have talked about how when you are willing to forgive, Christ forgives you. But the question is, do you accept Christ’s forgiveness?
For some, it is easier to forgive others than to believe Jesus has truly forgiven us. You know things you have done that perhaps no one else on Earth knows, but Jesus does. And because of that you question whether He would…whether He could ever forgive you.
I have good news for you friend, Jesus knows exactly what you have done—the good and the bad. Despite knowing everything about you, He loves you, and He has forgiven you. He does not want you to dwell on your mistakes.
The most well-known story in the Bible is the story of Jesus dying on the cross. Your sins and mine are the exact reason He died on the Cross over 2,000 years ago—so that we would not have to carry that burden, and so that we could give our transgressions, our mess ups, and our sins to Him. Jesus doesn’t differentiate between sins. He doesn’t forgive some and hold others over your head. He wants to wipe your entire slate clean.
If there is something in your life that you have held on to for far too long, it is now time to give it to Jesus. The best part is, He already knows it, and He loves you anyway. Today is the day God is asking you to not only forgive yourself, but to accept the forgiveness He has been offering you all this time. Jesus wants to set you free today. Will you accept His forgiveness?
