Apply the Blood Over Your Life
"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." - Psalm 51:10
It is one thing to know about the power of the blood. It is another to apply it. In Exodus, God instructed His people not only to sacrifice a lamb but to take its blood and place it over the doorposts of their homes. It was not enough that the lamb was killed. The blood had to be applied where it mattered most.
The doorpost was the entryway. It was where people and things came in and went out. It symbolized access points, the places where life crossed over into the home. God’s instruction was clear. Cover the entry with the blood. That was what protected them from destruction.
The same is true for us. We all have doorposts in our lives: our hearts, our minds, our emotions, our choices. These are the places where influences come in and shape who we are. That is why it is not enough to just know about Jesus or attend church or come from a Christian family. The blood of Jesus has to be applied to our hearts.
We apply the blood when we surrender our hearts to Him. We also apply the blood when we ask Him to cover our minds and cleanse our thoughts. We even apply the blood when we invite Him into the choices we make and the relationships we build.
Without this, we leave the door open to things that can harm us, like fear, anger, bitterness, temptation, and distraction. But when we invite Jesus to cover those places, we experience His protection, peace, and presence in powerful ways.
I want to challenge you today to ask yourself some tough questions. What doors in my life need the covering of God’s blood? Is it my heart where I carry hidden wounds? Is it my mind where worry has taken over? Is it my relationships or decisions?
Do not just know about the blood. Apply it. Pray, Lord, cover my life with Your blood. Protect my heart. Guard my mind. Lead my steps. When we do this, we find the peace that comes not just from knowing about God but from living under His covering every day.
