Do You Pray for Them?
“But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.” - Luke 6:27
Who is against you? Who fights against your cause? Who are your “enemies?” When you hear the word, “enemies,” who comes to mind? As we discussed yesterday, if you are doing the work of Christ and obediently chasing after the will of God to advance His Kingdom, you will find people who are against you.
And in these times, as Michelle Obama stated, “when they go low, we go high.” We don’t spend energy seeking vengeance. We pray for them. We love them. We wish them the best. Luke 6:27 says, “But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.”
There are multiple verses in the Bible referencing enemies. It is an important topic to God. And multiple times He tells us to love our enemies. He instructs us to PRAY FOR THEM.
Now, you might be reading this, thinking, “Are you kidding? These people slander me, talk bad about me, wish for my failure... and you want me to pray for them?” That is right. God wants you to pray for them!
When you are obedient to God’s will, you do not have to worry about any enemy. He will take care of them. No weapon formed against you will prosper when you are following His will. He assumes full responsibility for all those who seek your demise, because if you are doing God’s will, they are not only against you, but they are also against Him.
Stay focused on the good because the enemy wants you to focus on the negative. Keep praying and keep moving!
