Your Destiny Is Not Destruction
“Enter through the narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” - Matthew 7:13-14
Letting go is not easy, but it becomes possible when we understand why it is necessary. The reason Lot’s wife and her family had to flee Sodom is because their present reality was destined for destruction.
The handwriting was already on the wall for Sodom and Gomorrah. God had already decided to destroy the cities. It did not matter that Sodom and Gomorrah were great and prosperous cities in the past. All of that was gone now. They were no longer capable of fulfilling what God had planned. They were no longer nations of hope, peace, and equity.
Sometimes we hold on to things that God has already declared an end to. Sometimes we keep people or habits in our lives that we know in our spirit are not in line with God’s will for our lives.
Lot’s wife struggled to walk away because she was familiar with the city, and her familiarity with it made it more difficult to let go. So often the reason why we stay or why we keep looking back is because we are familiar with the things that are not good for us. We have walked a road that has become comfortable, maybe even easy. But be careful because this road is destined for destruction, and your destiny is not destruction.
God wants bigger and better for you. If you want to avoid the road to destruction, the pain, and the heartache, then you need to change your route. Ask God to guide you down paths of righteousness and decide in your mind that you will choose to triumph in your trials.
