Feast or Famine? It’s Only Temporary.
“Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” - Isaiah 43:18-19
Are you currently in a feast or a famine? The reality is that every one of us will experience both (many times) throughout the course of our lives. There will always be a new season of life to charter in growth on your personal journey.
Maybe you are currently feasting. Life is great, and everything is going your way. Perhaps you are in the relationship of your dreams. You finally got that job you wanted and are making the money you long hoped for. You just moved to a brand-new home and it’s the nicest place you have ever lived. Whatever it might be, you are living lavish, and life is great.
Or maybe you are in a famine. Something in your life isn’t how you wanted it to be or you feel as though nothing is right. You got your heart broken. Maybe you were abused, or you lost your job. Maybe someone you love was diagnosed with a serious illness, and you don’t know what the future holds. You just want some good news and everywhere you turn is negative story after negative story.
In both cases, this too shall pass—this season is temporary. God has a lesson for you to learn in this season and He wants you to be in a never-ending pursuit of Him and His will.
Whether you are in a feast or a famine, there is always something to learn and new ways to grow. Do not become lazy because you seem to “have it made” in a season of feasting and feel as though God is not a major priority right now. Also, do not waste time dwelling on pain in your season of famine because God has not abandoned you and He wants a closer relationship with you.
Even though the season is transitional, God’s presence in your life isn’t, if you are willing to build that relationship with Him. He just wants to know that regardless of where you are headed, you are holding onto Him along the way.
