Trusting God In The Unseen
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. – Hebrews 11:1
As followers of Christ, we can all find God’s will for our lives by trusting what God speaks over us, despite what we see in front of us. Just think of all the passages of Scripture where people have to trust what God says despite what they see.
Noah trusted God to build the ark before he actually saw any rain. The Shunamite woman had to trust God’s promise of a son even though her son was dead. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had to hold on to their faith even though they were being thrown in a fire. And Peter had to step out on water despite the winds and the waves.
This principle is no different in your life. You have to trust what God says despite what you see. You may see sickness, but you have to trust that you’re healed, whether that healing happens on earth or on the other side of heaven. You may see poverty, but you have to trust that you’re prosperous because of what you have in Christ. You may see obstacles, but you have to trust that the Lord is on your side. That’s what faith is.
Abram experienced the power of God in a new way, in a new place, in a new time, and in a new location. But to do that, he had to get up and get out of the place where he was in order to see God and trust God in a new season. He would be led and guided by an unseen hand, to an undiscovered country, and on an unblazed path, by an invisible God. Now if that’s not a journey of faith, I don’t know what is.
