Never Give Up
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9)
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
On April 30, 1945, an unknown Jewish writer left a note for a friend who helped him escape Hitler by hiding him in his home. In the note, the Holocaust survivor thanked his friend for what he had done. However, after hiding and evading Nazi’s for quite some time, he said he could no longer endure the suffering that he and his people were facing. So that night, on April 30th, the writer decided to take his own life.
What’s so sad about this story is that on May 5, 1945, both the Nazi regime and Hitler were defeated. After a long war, the Allies had won. Tragically for this man, however, he had lost faith in the possibility of change. Things had gotten so bad that he saw no way that his situation would turn around. Had he held on just five more days, his long night of suffering would have been over.
I’m not sure of what you’re walking through right now. I don’t know what your April 30th moment looks like. But whatever you’re facing, know that you don’t have to give up. Don’t quit, because help is on the way. There is always peace, relief, love, and mercy to be found in Jesus. No matter what our circumstances, He can get us through whatever life throws at us. So please, whatever you do, never give up. Keep trusting. Keep hoping. Keep believing. And keep holding onto the one sure thing you have in this world: Jesus Christ.
