Getting My Life Back On Track
"When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.'" - Luke 15:17-24
Trains, rarely seen but powerful, can derail from time to time. On September 21, 2021, near Joplin, Montana, an Amtrak train carrying 146 people derailed, resulting in tragedy. It took weeks to clear the wreckage, repair the damaged rails, and restore public confidence. Our personal lives can mirror this chaos when we veer off course spiritually, morally, and ethically, straying from God's path. Like a train off its tracks, we end up dissatisfied, spiritually unfulfilled, and unhappy with ourselves.
We experiment with worldly pursuits, thinking there's something better out there, like the Prodigal Son. We get off track, relationships suffer, faith weakens, and we find ourselves in a place we never imagined. Wreckage surrounds us – family life crumbles, prayer becomes sporadic, and we're trapped in sin. But the story doesn't end there.
Thanks be to God, we can repair a broken life, restore a lost relationship with God, and get our lives back on track. We don't have to stay damaged or broken. Healing, restoration, and redemption are available. We can reclaim what the enemy stole or life took away. We don't need to remain victims of addiction, abuse, or trauma. God provides a path to thriving, healing, and redemption.
If you're still alive, you can thrive. If you're still here, you can make it. We find hope in the Prodigal Son's story, a narrative of coming to one's senses and making the decision to return to the Father. Despite the wreckage, despite the chaos, we can embark on a journey of healing and restoration. The Father eagerly waits, arms open wide, ready to restore and celebrate our return. So, let's declare, "I'm getting my life back on track!" It's never too late to return to God, repair the damage, and experience the fullness of His redemption.
