More Than You Sow
“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” - Galatians 6:7-8
You reap what you sow. What comes to mind when you hear that statement? Do you think about a time when you gave $5 to a homeless man, and found a $100 bill laying around a week later? Or maybe you think about a bad habit you started and the consequences that came of it.
Whatever it is, reaping and sowing are real. Not only is this concept real, but it’s also biblical. You always reap what you sow. You reap later than you sow, and you reap MORE than you sow.
Galatians 6:7-8 tells us, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”
But understand this, God doesn’t just allow you to reap what you sow. You reap MORE than you sow. When you are obedient to God, the reward is always greater. When you disobey God, the punishment always outweighs the pleasure of the sin.
It can be hard to decide in the moment between delayed gratification (obedience to God) and instant pleasure (SIN). But what can make the decision easier is when we think about the consequences.
Good or bad, there will always be consequences. The consequence of sin is discipline. And that can come in many different forms. But the consequence of obedience is a blessing far beyond any instant pleasure you could ever experience.
No one has ever regretted obeying God because He always rewards you beyond what you deserve. That’s the type of God He is. Whenever you are facing a difficult choice, always think about the consequences.
Do you want God’s discipline, or do you want God’s blessing? One or the other is coming. You reap what you sow, and you reap MORE than you sow. The choice is yours.
