Rekindle The Flame
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” - Revelation 3:15-16
As believers, we are all susceptible to burnout. The daily grind, all of the meetings, all of the responsibilities, going from work, to church, to kid activities, to checking emails, doing assignments, keeping up with family members, watching the news, trying to avoid COVID, paying bills, trying to meet our spouse’s needs, and in the course of all that, trying to take care of ourselves.
Juggling all of this can all cause you to feel burned out. As we continue into this year, our aim should be to rekindle that spiritual flame and to reignite that fire that may have become dulled or grown dim during the pandemic. As we all have had to worship from home, and as we have all tried to figure out this new normal when it comes to the things of the Spirit, some have begun to wane and have become weakened in their walk with God.
My prayer as a pastor is that we would be able to reboot our prayer lives, renew our study of the Word of God, and even take our worship to a new and different level. To do this, we must allow God to replenish our souls, tap into our deep desire for Him, and make a conscious, intentional decision to grow spiritually.
We will talk about each of these concepts in the coming days as we seek to understand them all better. But before we do, ask yourself, “Do I need to rekindle my flame for Christ?” Maybe you have fallen into that “lukewarm” category Revelation 3 discusses. Christ says that He would rather us be cold than lukewarm. Jesus is not looking for any lukewarm followers. He wants you to be on fire for Him and His will for your life. Do you need to rekindle that flame?
