God’s Blessing Of Reconciliation
“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed us to the message of reconciliation.” - 2 Corinthians 5:18-19
God has not only blessed us with redemption, as we spoke about yesterday, but God also blessed us with reconciliation. He says in Ephesians 1:7, “In him we have…the forgiveness of our trespasses.” When Jesus paid for our redemption, we received forgiveness and reconciliation in the process.
Forgiveness is what occurs when God takes the penalty for our sins. As the prophet Micah says, He throws them in the sea of forgetfulness and reconciles us by bringing us back into the right relationship with God. Reconciliation is what happens when your checkbook and your bank statement don’t have the same balance. There is a problem. In order to fix it, you try and identify why those two numbers do not match up. You don’t throw up your hands and give up because the numbers don’t agree. You do the work to find the error.
The process of fixing the error is called reconciliation. Jesus Christ came to fix our error by reconciling us back to God, to restore and balance our relationship with Him. Romans 5:10 says, “For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, we will be saved by his life.” Isn’t it good to know that with everything we have done in our past and in our lives that God forgives our trespasses?
God not only wants to redeem you but wants to reconcile you as well. He is a God of forgiveness. If you have not done so already, claim the blessing of reconciliation today. No matter where you are, or what you have done, God is ready to give you a fresh start today!
