Hiding in Holiness
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Have you ever felt as though you needed to keep your frustrations from God and others because you are “too blessed to be stressed,” or you believe you are doing better than you could be doing?
Sometimes we have the tendency to minimize our struggles or believe that we cannot complain because complaining would be a sign that we are unholy and unfaithful to God. However, this is not the case.
God already knows what we are thinking and feeling. He knows when we try to put on a smile when we want to cry. He knows when we are isolating ourselves and see our circumstances as unfair. He understands our grief and our struggles. He just wants us to be transparent with Him.
It’s okay to not feel okay. We serve a God of comfort. There are many biblical verses which highlight God’s desire for us to go to Him. Matthew 11:28-30 states, “Come to me all who are burdened and weary and I will give you rest.”
James 4:8-10, says “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you,” Psalm 145:18 proclaims, “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth,” and Revelation 3:20 iterates, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
Go to God, commune with God, rest in God. Don’t ever feel as though your problem is too big or too small for God. He is our burden bearer, our great counselor. No need to hide in holiness any longer.
