Pre-Existing Conditions Welcome
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." - Micah 6:8
Many people feel like they are not welcome in the church because of their past mistakes or current struggles. They may feel like they need to have everything in their life together before they can come to God. But the truth is that God wants us to come to him just as we are, with all of our flaws and imperfections. He loves us no matter what and is willing to help us with our pre-existing conditions.
The story of the woman caught in adultery in John 8:1-11 is a powerful example of this. The religious leaders wanted to stone her for her sin, but Jesus showed her mercy and compassion. He didn't shame her or make her feel guilty; he simply loved her and helped her to move forward in her life.
As Christians, we are called to do the same. We must welcome all people, regardless of their past mistakes or current struggles. We must show them the same love and compassion that Jesus showed the woman in John 8. We must be willing to help them with their pre-existing conditions and support them as they work to overcome their struggles.
When we welcome people with open arms, we create a safe and loving environment where they can experience the love of God. We can then help them to see that God loves them just as they are and that he is willing to help them with whatever pre-existing conditions they may have.
Let us be a church that welcomes all people, no matter what their past or current struggles may be, and helps them to experience the love and grace of God.
