Glory in the Ordinary
"And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light." – Matthew 17:2
There are moments in Scripture that seem to stop time. The Transfiguration of Jesus is one of them. He takes three of His disciples up a mountain and, in a flash of holy brilliance, reveals a glimpse of His divine nature. His face shines like the sun. His clothes radiate with light. And standing beside Him are Moses and Elijah, two giants of faith. For that moment, the disciples are no longer seeing Jesus the way they always had. They are seeing Him as He truly is, in glory.
But what’s easy to overlook is what came before that moment. The climb. The quiet. The regular rhythm of following Jesus day after day. That’s what led them to the mountaintop. Not a big event. Not a performance. Just obedience, relationship, and the willingness to keep walking with Him.
Most of your life won’t happen on the mountaintop. Most of your days will look more like the climb than the revelation. But the power of consistent faith is that it positions you to experience God in ways you never expected. You keep showing up. You keep listening. You keep serving. And then, without warning, a moment comes where the ordinary is interrupted by glory. And suddenly, you realize: God was here all along.
The real takeaway is not just that Jesus revealed His glory. It’s that He let the disciples see it. He invited them into that moment because they were willing to go with Him. And He’s still doing that today. You may not see bright lights or glowing faces, but every time you commit to growing, obeying, and trusting God, you are walking toward a moment that will change how you see everything.
Do not downplay the power of daily faithfulness. Your obedience is setting you up for clarity, breakthrough, and a deeper awareness of God’s presence. You don’t have to chase the spotlight. Just keep following Him. The glory comes when you least expect it, but it always comes.
