Making a Difference through Prayer
“So Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly. The plague had already started among the people, but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them. He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped.” - Numbers 16:47-48
Have you ever felt the weight of responsibility to stand in the gap and intercede for others? In Numbers 16, when a plague struck Israel, Moses instructed Aaron to offer incense on behalf of the people. This act symbolized prayer, and Aaron stood between the living and the dead until the plague ceased.
Intercessory prayer is a powerful tool in the hands of us believers. It's a way for us to make a difference in the lives of others, to bring healing and restoration to broken situations. Just as Aaron's prayer halted the plague, our prayers have the potential to bring about miraculous change.
But prayer isn't the only way we can make a difference. We can also uphold the truth of God's Word and live it out in our daily lives, even when it's challenging or unpopular. Recently, Bishop William Murphy and the Dream Center Church in Atlanta exemplified this by adding flavor to their church service. Their willingness to step out in faith resulted in 150 people finding salvation.
As followers of Christ, we should allow God to use us to bring healing to broken places and people. But in order to make a change, we must first be changed ourselves. Our lives should reflect the love, grace, and truth of Jesus Christ in everything we do.
Embrace your call to stand in the gap and intercede for others through prayer. Let's uphold the truth of God's Word and live it out boldly. And as we allow God to work through us, we become agents of transformation in a world that desperately needs His love and grace.
